Lake of the Woods County

Baudette, MN is nestled on the banks of the Rainy River. As the County seat for Lake of the Woods County, it is becoming the "place to be" in Minnesota for fishing, tourism, small business development and just plain quality of life.

The city features a new world-class school, affordable housing on some of the most beautiful waterfront in the U.S.; a dedicated workforce ready to take on new and innovative job opportunities; and an existing infrastructure, to include an international airport, ready and willing to provide various means of support to small/medium sized businesses willing to expand or relocate to the area.

IDC

The IDC partners with NWMF and the HRDC to help fund new or existing businesses located anywhere within Lake of the Woods County. Additionally, the Lake of the Woods Industrial Development Corporation (IDC) controls over 80 acres in an Industrial Park with a 4,600 sq. ft. building located on the south side of the city, just minutes away form the city's main commercial district and airport. The park features 3-phase power, city sewer and water, and high speed internet. This is an actively progressive project which can adapt to the specific needs of most any business.

History of the IDC

The Lake of the Woods Industrial Development Corporation was organized and received its corporate charter on February 26, 1962. Organizers represented Banking, Newspaper, Existing Industry, Business, Agribusiness, Legal, Education, County Government, Village Government and Forestry Department. In its early years of existence, its activities were confined to publication of a descriptive brochure of the area, assistance in developing an Industrial Park for the County, and advertising the area to potential small industries.

The purposes of this corporation, are to bring new and increased business activity to the Lake of the Woods area, thereby increasing employment and general prosperity; to compile and disseminate information concerning the suitability of the area for various business activities; to solicit aid and encourage expansion of existing business activity and the creation of new business activity in the area; to receive or to aid in the receipt of assistance of any type from the State, Federal, County, or local governmental units for the encouragement of business activity in the area and generally to carry on all legal activities necessary to achieve the above purposes and to exercise all powers conferred by the laws of Minnesota on corporations formed under the non-profit corporations act, including buying, owning, leasing, selling real estate, lending and borrowing money, and to do all things set out above to the same extent.

The corporation does not afford pecuniary gain incidentally or otherwise to its members, and the corporation shall be perpetual.
