The Lake of the Woods Joint Powers Board works with the cities of Baudette and Williams and Lake of the Woods County to utilize as many economic development incentive programs to support the establishment, expansion or relocation of businesses into Lake of the Woods County. Below is a list of some of the tools that are available:
1. The Industrial Development Corporation has capital to help assist businesses expand or relocate into Lake of the Woods County.
2. JOBZ sub-zone. Qualifying businesses in a JOBZ sub-zone can get state and local property, sales, franchise, and business tax exemptions until December 31, 2015.
3. Tax Abatement. Lake of the Woods County and the City of Baudette can provide qualifying new businesses with tax abatement incentives.
4. State Grant and Loan Programs. The Joint Powers Board works closely with various organizations throughout Minnesota to implement programs which include:
